Hotchkis & Wiley Mid-Cap Value Fund is an actively managed equity vehicle that seeks long-term capital appreciation by investing primarily in mid-capitalization companies that the manager believes are undervalued. It follows a value investment style, identifying securities whose prospects are underappreciated by the market, using bottom-up fundamental analysis and incorporating material Environmental, Social, and Governance factors as part of its assessment.
At least 80 percent of the fund's net assets (plus borrowings) are invested in mid-capitalization equity securities, according to Hotchkis & Wiley Capital Management's definition of value. Mid-caps are defined in comparison to the Russell Midcap Index over the prior 12 months for market capitalisation ranges. The fund may also invest in foreign securities and in smaller companies.
The provider is Hotchkis & Wiley Capital Management, LLC. The fund is offered in both a mutual fund form and an exchange-traded fund (ETF) share class, with all share classes investing in the same underlying portfolio. It operates under the US regulatory structure for mutual funds and ETFs, and is structured as a series of the Hotchkis & Wiley Funds trust.
